The moment immediately became fodder for jokes and memes online, with social media users dubbing him “Dozy Don,” a clear nod to the earlier nickname “Sleepy Joe,” which Trump had previously used to mock President Joe Biden.

California Governor Gavin Newsom’s press office was quick to respond, posting on X a collage of Trump’s “nodding” moments from various appearances and labeling him “The Nodfather,” a playful reference to the Godfather movie series.

Newsom’s office had previously coined the nickname “Dozy Don” following photos of Trump appearing to nod off at a public event earlier this year.
