The First Encounter
Our story begins with the nun waiting for her flight to Chicago. Amid the usual airport hustle and bustle, her attention was caught by a peculiar coin-operated machine—one of those old-fashioned devices that measures weight and dispenses a written fortune.
Curious, she stepped onto the scale and inserted a nickel. The machine whirred and delivered a small card:
At first, she dismissed it, thinking the message was generic. But the more she pondered its accuracy, the more intrigued she became.
A Musical Surprise
Unable to resist testing it again, she inserted another nickel. The second card appeared:
“You are a Nun. You weigh 128 lbs. You are going to Chicago and you are going to play a fiddle.”
She laughed, certain it was wrong—she had never played an instrument. Yet moments later, a cowboy-like traveler sat beside her with a fiddle case. On a whim, she opened it, tried playing the instrument, and to her own amazement, created beautiful music.
