I nodded. “It happens to all of us,” I said. “Sometimes we hear the invitation and miss the details.” I smiled to soften the edges. “Next time, how about tacos? Easy on the wallet and heavy on the fun.”
She laughed, relief loosening her shoulders. “Deal.”
