As of late evening, no fatalities had been confirmed, but at least 18 people were treated for smoke inhalation and minor injuries, including three firefighters.

Emergency medical teams set up triage zones at multiple points around the fire. Ambulances moved in and out of the cordoned area, transporting those in need of further care.

“We’re grateful that most people managed to evacuate quickly,” said Health Commissioner Dr. Angela Rivera. “But smoke inhalation can be dangerous even hours after exposure, so we’re monitoring everyone closely.”

Heroic Acts in the Chaos

Amid the flames and fear, there were also moments of extraordinary bravery.

Two off-duty firefighters, who happened to be nearby, rushed into one of the residential buildings before the fire department officially arrived. They helped rescue an elderly woman and her dog from the third floor.

“They didn’t even have their gear on,” a neighbor said. “They just ran in. That’s real courage.”
