Historic Buildings at Risk
The affected block includes several structures over a century old. Some of these buildings, made mostly of timber and brick, are part of the city’s historic district. Officials fear that the fire may have caused irreparable damage to some landmarks.
“This is not just property — this is history,” said local historian Eleanor Wright. “These buildings hold generations of stories. Losing them feels like losing part of the city’s soul.”
Cause Still Under Investigation
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Early reports suggest the blaze may have started in a storage area of the warehouse, but officials say it’s too early to confirm.
“Everything is still very fluid,” Fire Chief Morris said. “We’ll conduct a full investigation once the fire is fully under control.”
