Many people experience judgment when it comes to the decision to have children. Society tends to present a very narrow timeline for adulthood:
Couples who choose not to have children are asked to justify their decisions. Women who wait until later in life are warned they “don’t have much time.”
And individuals with disabilities — particularly those with intellectual or developmental differences — face even harsher scrutiny.
People assume they cannot be good partners. And far too often, people assume they cannot be good parents.
