“Mom… I’m pregnant.”
For a moment, Patti couldn’t speak. It wasn’t because she doubted her daughter — it was because she had been taught by society, by doctors, and by general medical understanding that pregnancy was unlikely in families like theirs.
And while individuals with Down syndrome increasingly live full, independent lives — working, dating, and building relationships — there is still a widespread belief that parenthood is out of reach.

Lisa Was Already Living Independently — And Thriving
By 29, Lisa was living a life she had built with determination:

• She followed medical instructions
