Why a Bow and Arrow Symbol Appears in Certain U.S. Currency Designs

The design of official U.S. currency does not feature a specific bow and arrow symbol. What may appear as a bow and arrow is either a misinterpretation of the bundle of 13 arrows in the Great Seal or an unofficial “chop mark” stamped on the bill after issuance.
