Earlier this year, I invested $6,500 in a registered Black Angus bull for my small cattle operation. I had high hopes for him, expecting he would help strengthen my herd and justify the cost over time. But within the first few weeks, he showed little interest in anything other than grazing peacefully in the pasture. While the rest of the cattle moved about their normal routine, he wandered quietly, calm and carefree. After watching him for days, I found myself wondering whether I had made the right investment.
