In a press release, the Ardennes prefecture reports that the fire at a factory near Sedan, in Bazeilles (Ardennes), is now under control. The fire and the plume of smoke have diminished in intensity. Firefighters (including four reinforcements from Belgium) remain on site to completely extinguish the blaze. The departmental fire and rescue service quickly conducted toxicity tests around and in the neighboring towns. No abnormal readings were found. Residents are asked to avoid the area to allow emergency services to carry out their mission safely.
The Polymoulages factory has been engulfed in flames since mid-afternoon on Friday, February 3, 2023. The fire broke out at 4:55 p.m. A large number of firefighters have been deployed to the scene in Bazeilles, near Sedan (Ardennes). Thick black smoke is visible for miles around.
