Trump reacts to Mamdani’s election-night criticisms

Trump’s fiery rhetoric wasn’t reserved solely for Mamdani. During his appearance at the America Business Forum in Miami on Wednesday, the president also took aim at California Governor Gavin Newsom, a longtime political rival.

Trump, known for his penchant for creating nicknames for his political opponents, unveiled a new one for Newsom. “Maybe that should be his nickname — Slimy. Slimy Newscum, right?”

Trump said, prompting laughter from the crowd. Newsom, never one to back down from a public spat, responded quickly to Trump’s jab, posting a simple message on X (formerly Twitter): “You lost.”
