The Civil Police, in turn, did not waste time and sent an expert team to the crime scene. The objective was to collect traces and information that would be fundamental for the investigations. The woman’s body was sent to the André Roquette Medical Legal Institute, where examinations would be carried out to determine additional details about the cause of death. If the man was taken to a department specialized in homicides, where he would be heard and his version of the facts would be recorded.
What can we learn?
This tragedy reminds us of the importance of being attentive to the dynamics of abusive relationships and the need to promote an environment in which people feel safe to seek help. Organizations and institutions must work together to raise awareness campaigns and offer support to victims of domestic violence. Every life lost is a tragedy that could be avoided.
