Sportscaster Christina Chambers Found Dead at Home — Here’s What Happened

Police are investigating after a former sportscaster and her husband were found dead in their Alabama residence, as emotional tributes pour in on social media.

Former WBRC sports reporter Christina Chambers and her husband were found dead on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, inside their Hoover home in Alabama, according to local police.

Police said they are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the deaths to understand what happened inside the home that morning.

Police Respond to Scene After Shocking Discovery

A relative went to the couple’s home around 9 a.m. and found both adults unresponsive, according to WBRC 6 News, citing Hoover Police.

Police arrived to find that both adults had suffered gunshot wounds. Paramedics responded but were unable to revive them and pronounced them dead at the scene. A three-year-old child was also in the home at the time but was unharmed, according to police.

Officers did not release the names right away as they worked to confirm identities and notify family members. They later confirmed the case is being investigated as a possible murder-suicide.

Community Shares Tributes to Former Reporter

News of Chambers’ death brought an immediate wave of heartfelt messages from former co-workers, friends, and public figures, a reflection of the deep mark she left both in the newsroom and in her community.

On Facebook, WBRC 6 said they were “absolutely heartbroken” by the news. They asked the community to keep their former colleague’s family and the newsroom in their thoughts during this difficult time.

The station praised her work ethic, noting her reliability and ability to take on any task with enthusiasm. She brought focus and energy to each assignment, especially during football season and community events.

Colleagues recalled her warm smilequick instincts, and the passion she brought to her reporting. Many said she had deep roots with the station, having grown up watching WBRC before later achieving her goal of joining the team.

Meanwhile, on X, U.S. Senator Katie Boyd Britt also shared a message of support, calling the news “tragic” and asking the public to keep Chambers’ loved ones and the WBRC team in their prayers.

Christina Chambers Was a Devoted Mother

Chambers often shared photos and stories about her young son on social media. In March 2024, she pushed him in a stroller during their second “Mommy/Son 5K,” and joked, “Constantine enjoys the awards, but we all know Mama did all the work 🤣.”

On Mother’s Day 2023, the former sportscaster called being a mom “the best blessing in life” and thanked her son for inspiring her.

Chambers Built Her Career on Alabama Sports, Education, and Local News

Chambers started her career in television news as a sports reporter. She worked at WAKA in Montgomery and WLTZ NBC38 in Columbus, Georgia, before joining Comcast Sports Southeast in Atlanta, where she covered Auburn University and high school athletics.

She later freelanced for Raycom Media, helping cover state championship games in football and basketball.

In 2015, Chambers joined WBRC in Birmingham. She became a regular on “Sideline,” the station’s Friday night high school football show, and contributed to events like the Mercedes Marathon.

She left her full-time role in 2021 to focus on teaching. At Thompson High School in Alabaster, she led the broadcast journalism program. In 2024, she was named Advisor of the Year by the Alabama Scholastic Press Association, and her students earned top broadcast honors.

Even after stepping away from daily news, Chambers stayed connected to sports media. In December 2023, she helped cover the Super 7 Championships at Bryant-Denny Stadium. She shared photos from the event and described the three-day coverage as a rewarding experience.

In 2025, she returned to WBRC as a freelance contributor during football season. At the time of her death, Chambers was working in corporate communications at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama.

The deaths of Chambers and her husband come as police in other parts of the country investigate similar high-profile cases. In Los Angeles, Hollywood legend Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead inside their home on Sunday, December 14.

The discovery has triggered a high-stakes homicide investigation, with potential family ties now under scrutiny.

Family Member Reportedly Made the Grim Discovery as Speculation Mounts

Authorities confirmed that the beloved director and actor, 78, and his wife, 68, were discovered lifeless in their Brentwood residence shortly after 3:30 p.m. Emergency calls prompted a rapid response from the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), but it was already too late.

According to multiple sources speaking to People magazine, the couple’s daughter, Romy Reiner, was the one who made the horrific discovery. The same sources alleged that their son, Nick Reiner, was responsible.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) Robbery-Homicide Division is investigating the case. According to TMZ, law enforcement said that the victims suffered lacerations consistent with a knife attack, a chilling detail that has stunned Hollywood.

What Is Known About Nick Reiner’s Past

Nick has spoken openly in the past about his struggle with addiction, which inspired the 2016 semi-autobiographical film “Being Charlie.”

In a People interview that year, he described periods of homelessness in several states after refusing to return to rehab. “I spent nights on the street. I spent weeks on the street. It was not fun,” he said. His time living in and out of shelters helped shape the film’s narrative.

Now, with both parents dead and his name appearing in early media coverage, public attention has turned toward the Reiner family, even as police continue their investigation without naming a suspect.

Shock Investigation Into Reiner Deaths Begins

As of Sunday evening, the LAPD confirmed that no suspects have been identified in the deaths of Rob and Michele. The investigation remains in its earliest stages, with detectives moving cautiously but deliberately as they begin piecing together what happened inside the couple’s Brentwood home.

At a press conference, LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton told reporters that investigators are beginning to coordinate with family members to “get to the facts of this investigation.”

A law enforcement official reportedly said that one family member was interviewed Sunday evening, but emphasized that no one has been detained or named as a suspect.

Hamilton also said detectives are waiting on the legal process to obtain a search warrant. “Once that is complied with, we will be conducting a full crime scene investigation on the interior and exterior of the residence and the surrounding neighborhood,” he said.
