The couple’s relationship began in 1998, when Melania Knauss — then a Slovenian-born fashion model — met Trump at a Manhattan event. She famously declined his first advance because he arrived with another woman. Still, sparks flew soon after, and by 2005, they were married in a lavish Palm Beach ceremony. A year later, she became a U.S. citizen, and the couple welcomed their only child, Barron, now 19 and a student at New York University.

President Trump, now 79, has five children from three marriages. His first wife, Ivana Trump, received roughly $14 million, a Connecticut mansion, and an apartment in Trump Plaza following their 1992 divorce. His second wife, Marla Maples, reportedly walked away with about $2 million after their split in 1999.

Melania’s revised prenuptial deal is said to protect Barron’s share of the Trump family assets and ensure he has a role in the family’s business ventures. According to Washington Post journalist Mary Jordan, author of The Art of Her Deal, Melania’s five-month delay in moving to the White House in 2017 was used “strategically” to secure those updated financial terms.
