Warning: This article contains discussion of addiction and homelessness which some readers may find distressing
The actor and stand-up comedian, 47, has been trying to help his fellow child star since footage of him on the streets of California went viral in recent weeks.
Chase – best known for his roles in Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, Everybody Hates Chris and Good Time Max – was seen looking dishevelled in the concerning clip that was taken in September.
The Riverside Police Department said they were unsure how long the former actor ‘has been experiencing homelessness’, but added that he had declined offers to help him find housing.
Chase is also said to have turned down access to mental health support services as well as addiction treatment.
But last week, fans of the Nickelodeon star had fresh hope that he might be able to turn a corner, as it was reported that he had been hospitalised.

It was believed that Chase would embark on his road to recovery at a rehab centre after he was placed on an involuntary 72-hour psychiatric hold, according to the Daily Mail.
However, Weiss has since claimed that although he had ‘arranged’ a detox facility for the 36-year-old to attend, he was instead released back onto the streets.
He told TMZ that despite a mental health crisis team deeming him to be in need of assistance, ‘they let him out without contacting any of us’.
Weiss alleged that Chase was ‘smoking meth during the evaluation with no shoes or jacket in the freezing cold’, prompting the responders to declare that he needed to be hospitalised for a second time.
But despite this, Weiss – who has struggled with addiction and housing issues himself – claims that the former TV star was left out on the streets.

Shaun Weiss, 47, shared his concerns for the actor in an Instagram video giving fans an update (Instagram/@shaunweiss)
In an Instagram video sharing further details, the Heavyweights actor explained that although he feels as though he is ‘violating’ his pal’s privacy, people have been ‘demanding an update’ on Chase from him.
Weiss said in the clip: “Tyler has to want to go to treatment. All the resources are available to him. It’s very frustrating because there is no system in place to help people like this.
“Our only option now is to what, watch him wither away on the street?
“Jake – who everyone knows has made it his life’s purpose to watch over Tyler and make sure nothing happens to him on the street – has been out for the last week keeping an eye on him.
“He contacted a mental health crisis team, they did an evaluation on Tyler, they agreed that he needed help. They took him away in an ambulance and he was supposed to be kept for a few days.

He went on to claim that Chase was ‘left on the street’ following the second evaluation, leaving those who have been trying to help him at a complete loss.
Weiss went on: “So, we don’t really know what to do. I’ll tell you what is not helpful – the people that want to go and see him to get a selfie for their Instagram and giving him money. That’s working against us.
“From what I hear from Jake, when [Chase] got out of the hospital he was fairly lucid, very receptive to treatment. Then he met up with some people, took some pictures and long story short, when Tyler is using, he is not receptive.
“So please, if you could refrain from doing that…it’s not helping. He needs a little space right now. Honestly, we don’t know what to do.”
Weiss said he was heading to California next week, where he would be able to ‘keep an eye on’ Chase, but explained he is still desperate for authorities to intervene.
“We need some help from the county of Riverside,” the comedian added. “Everybody knows he’s out there on the street, nobody is doing anything. This can’t be possible.”
LADbible has contacted County of Riverside for comment.

When you hear “adult social care,” you might just think it’s just a job – helping people with day-to-day stuff. But for many, it’s built community, laughter, and real friendships that last a lifetime. That’s what happened for Vicki and Chloe.
The story of Vicki
Vicki has congenital muscular dystrophy, a muscle-wasting condition that affects her entire body, including her breathing, organs, and ability to walk. Vicki lives with her partner, Keegan, who provides most of her day-to-day care, but she still needs additional support, like help getting dressed, fed and ready each day. Despite these limitations, she’s passionate about live music, concerts, festivals, and having a giggle.
More about Chloe – a carer that would become her best friend
Before Chloe met Vicki, she was juggling a part-time job in adult social care, another job at a school, and a busy family life. She’d always loved her job in care, and never thought that one day she’d meet a client that would become her best friend.
How did Chloe and Vicki meet
The two met at the funeral of a mutual friend, a day that ended up changing the course of both of their lives forever. They got chatting, instantly connected, and when Vicki later needed to hire a personal assistant, Chloe was just the right fit. So, Chloe quit her other jobs, and the rest was history.
A day in the life of Chloe and Vicki
Each day begins when Chloe arrives in the morning, ready to help Vicki with her daily routine. Chloe supports Vicki to get out of bed, gives her medication, assists her in the bathroom with personal care, prepares her food and gets her ready for the day. Their days are also filled with laughter, dancing and the occasional attempt to learn the bongos. Chloe supports Vicki three days a week, which means between days with Vicki, Chloe has time for her other commitments, including spending time with her kids
Work doesn’t feel like work when Chloe and Vicki are together. Their life together is full of meals out, seeing friends, going to concerts, raves, and the occasional cheeky trip to Ibiza.
“I love Ibiza,” Vicki says. “It’s my favourite place”
“We have loads of fun,” Chloe agrees.
Since the day Chloe and Vicki met, their friendship has continued to grow stronger. Vicki gets invited to Chloe’s family gatherings, her kids’ sports days, and the two hang out regularly, even on the days Chloe isn’t working.
Chloe says: “We’ve grown more of a connection like family now. We’ve become a family unit.”
Vicki agrees: “She’s like a sister to me. I feel like I’ve known her forever; it’s so strange. Even though it’s only been three years. I’d be lost without her.”
Why you should consider a career in adult social care
Adult social care is about more than just helping with daily tasks, it’s about supporting people to live independently, build relationships, and enjoy life. There are many different roles and career paths in social care, with opportunities for training and progression.
If you’re reading Chloe and Vicki’s story and reconsidering your career path, you’re not alone. (Hello? Who doesn’t want to go to concerts with their best mate on a work day?)
A career in adult social care isn’t just a job – it’s a passion which connects, empowers, and changes people’s lives. Everyone brings something unique to caring, whether your strength is empathy, patience, organisation, humour, or resilience.

Further details surrounding the death of a skydiver have emerged at an inquest into the tragedy.
Jade Damarell passed away after plummeting 10,000ft from a plane and crashing onto a farmland in County Durham on 27 April.
The 32-year-old’s parachute did not open, the inquest in the town of Crook heard, but there was no grounds ‘to suspect equipment failure’ had been a factor in Jade’s death.
Coroner’s officer Alexis Blighe said there was ‘no reason at all’ to suggest that Jade’s gear might have malfunctioned during the fateful skydive just weeks ago.
The marketing manager – who was born in Kowloon, Hong Kong, and lived in Caerphilly, Wales – died instantly following the horror incident.
A post-mortem examination at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle found that she had died as a result of ‘blunt trauma‘.
Her body was identified by Bryn Chaffe, who was the chief instructor at the Shotton-based skydiving firm she used, Sky-High Skydiving.

In a statement shared shortly after Jade’s death, the firm said that it appeared that the fatal skydiving incident had been ‘a deliberate act’.
“All indications from the police and British Skydiving are that this was a deliberate act taken to end her own life,” Sky-High Skydiving said.
“This heartbreaking news has deeply affected all who knew her, and our thoughts are with her family and friends as they face this unimaginable loss.
“At this incredibly difficult time, we ask for privacy and compassion for those grieving.”
The company also urged anyone ‘struggling or in emotional distress’ to seek help, while poignantly adding: “Even in the darkest moments, there is help and hope.”
Jade’s family also paid tribute to the late skydiver in wake of her passing, explaining it was an activity which she held extremely close to her heart.
Her loved ones told reporters: “Skydiving and its fantastic community meant so much to Jade and we’re incredibly comforted by how admired, respected and deeply loved she was.

“We miss her beyond words but Jade’s love, brilliance, courage and light will live on in our family and among all those who knew and loved her.”
In a further statement, the family described the thrill seeker as a ‘bright, adventurous, free spirit’, who ‘touched countless lives with her warmth and kindness’.
“We miss her beyond words but Jade’s love, brilliance, courage, and light will live on in our family and among all those who knew and loved her,” it read.
“Some stars are so bright they burn through their time too quickly – but their light never truly fades.
“We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone in the emergency services and the local first responders as well as the skydiving community. Your care and compassion mean more to us than we can express.
“Lastly, if you are struggling, please reach out. Talk to someone – a friend, loved one, or professional. You are never alone.”
The coroner adjourned the full inquest into Jade’s death until 21 August following the opening hearing.

Warning: This article contains discussion of suicide which some readers may find distressing.
The child actors on Everybody Loves Raymond barely spoke on the TV show despite appearing in it for all nine seasons, and it was done for a specific reason.
Interest in the show has been renewed by the 30-year anniversary special on CBS which saw the cast of the beloved US sitcom reunite.
The TV show reunion was praised in particular by its viewers for a heartbreaking but sweet moment in which the cast spoke about how one of the child stars had tragically died at the age of 19.
Sawyer Sweeten played Geoffrey Barone in the series, with his real-life identical twin Sullivan Sweeten playing his in-show twin Michael.
The pair are two of the children of Ray Ramano’s character, Raymond Barone, alongside their real-life older sister Madylin who played his daughter Ally in the series.

Sawyer and Sullivan each appeared in 142 episodes of the shows 210 episode run, however, neither received almost any lines in the series.
They joined the cast when they were just 16 months old and, obviously, unable to speak, but even as they grew up over the course of the series they still received almost no lines.
This was not accidental, however, with the show’s creator having previously revealed why the child actors barely got any lines.
Speaking to TV Guide in 2002, Phil Rosenthal said: “I wasn’t interested in doing a show with cute kids.
“I wanted to do a show about real people who happened to have children.
“On the surface, it could look like a Full House-type of show, and we wanted to avoid that. We wanted to do an adult sitcom, a nine o’clock show.”
Rosenthal stated that he thought the characters worked far better to rarely feature, saying: “I think child actors, in general, can wear out their welcome in a short amount of time.”

The show’s creator explained why Sawyer and Sullivan rarely had lines (CBS)
This has been a mystery for many in the 30 years since the show came out, but once its pointed out, seems obvious.
Sawyer sadly died ten years after the show ended in 2015 when he took his own life, something which the cast paid an emotional tribute to in the reunion special.
Ray Ramano said in the reunion special: “So Sawyer, of course, is no longer with us, and we miss him and he, just like you are [gesturing to his siblings], was this bright energy.”
Sawyer’s identical twin brother Sullivan added: “None of us really expected what happened. But I try to think about the good moments. And oftentimes, that’s here on the set.”

The director of a tragic new Matthew Perry documentary has spoken about why none of the core cast of Friends agreed to appear in it.
The documentary is called Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy and released yesterday on Peacock in the US.
Perry died in 2023 at 54 from ‘acute effects of ketamine‘, having reportedly used the drug as a treatment for depression and anxiety, following years of battling his drug addiction.
The other core members of the Friends cast have all spoken about his death over the year and a half since, but were unwilling to appear in the new documentary.
Director Robert Palumbo defended the documentary, stating it was not too soon, adding to The New York Post: “I think the impact of his death is fresh.”
Despite this, when addressing why David Schwimmer, Courtney Cox, Matt Le Blanc, Lisa Kudrow and Jennifer Aniston didn’t appear, Palumbo was frank.
He said: “Understandably, they were reluctant to go on a documentary about Matthew at this point.
“Maybe many years down the line … We understand their decision not to appear.”

Palumbo went on to say: “Many of us remember getting that news that he had died, and then eventually getting the details [that gave] sort of waves of anger.
“I feel like people still have him in their hearts and minds.
“As the facts began to come out about what happened to him, how he died and what possibly could have been a ring of people that sort of facilitated his death, I was really upset.”
The documentary goes into the accusations that his death was contributed to by people who were supplying him with ketamine.
Five people were charged following his death, with attorney Martin Estrada saying in a press conference there had been a ‘broad underground criminal network responsible for distributing large quantities of ketamine to Mr Perry and others’.
The documentary had several shocking revelations regarding Perry’s death.

Estrada, who stepped down from Perry’s case in January, spoke in the documentary and said that he had been administered 27 doses of Ketamine three days prior to his death.
Estrada said this was done by ‘people who should have known much better’.
Perry was administered the drug reportedly for ‘anxiety and depression’, with those close to the actor admitting that they hadn’t realised he had relapsed.
He was admitted several injections of Ketamine in the hours leading up to his death, with those reportedly being administered by Perry’s assistant Kenneth Iwamasa.
‘Ketamine Queen’ Jasveen Sangha, however, was charged with supplying the ketamine that led to his death.
Iwamasa, as well as two others, have pled guilty, while Sangha and a Dr Salvador Plasencia have both pled not guilty.
