Hollywood and the wider entertainment world were shaken by devastating news over the weekend.
Beloved director, actor, producer, and activist Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were discovered dead inside their Brentwood, Los Angeles, residence.
The pair — Reiner, 78, and Michele, 68 — were found deceased on Sunday, December 14, 2025, and authorities are treating the case as a double homicide after evidence indicated fatal wounds consistent with stabbing.

Discovery of the Bodies and Police Response
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, firefighters and paramedics responded to a medical aid call at the Reiners’ home in the affluent Brentwood neighborhood at approximately 3:38 p.m. PST on Sunday.
First responders located two bodies inside the property — a man and a woman matching the ages of Rob and Michele Reiner — and confirmed they had suffered multiple stab wounds.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division was immediately assigned to the scene to begin a homicide investigation.
Senior law enforcement sources described the case as an active and complex inquiry, with detectives working to piece together the events leading up to the couple’s deaths.
A family spokesperson released an official statement on Sunday evening, confirming the tragic loss and requesting privacy from the public:
“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner.

We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”
Investigation Developments — Son Arrested
In a dramatic development, Los Angeles police have arrested the couple’s son, 32‑year‑old Nick Reiner, in connection with the deaths.
Law enforcement sources tell ABC News that Nick was taken into custody late Sunday night and is being held without bail on suspicion of murdering his parents.
According to police statements and reports, Nick Reiner was not at the home when firefighters arrived, and investigators believe he left the area after the victims were found.
Law enforcement reportedly located him several hours later near the University of Southern California, where he was arrested in connection with the double homicide.
Police Chief Jim McDonnell confirmed that detectives from the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division worked through the night on the case, ultimately leading to Nick’s arrest.
Officials have so far declined to comment on an official motive, stating that the investigation remains ongoing and that evidence is still being reviewed by detectives and prosecutors.
Family Discovery and Early Scene Details
Law enforcement sources cited by multiple outlets say that it was the Reiners’ daughter who first discovered her parents’ bodies inside the home.
