But soon after Mark passed away, Melissa, Mark’s wife, left without warning. She packed her bags coldly and abandoned Emma and June, disappearing into a luxury car with another man. From that moment on, June worked tirelessly to keep the house and raise Emma on her own. She took on multiple jobs—cleaning houses, babysitting, waiting tables—sacrificing everything to provide for her granddaughter.
Emma grew up kind and thoughtful, never asking for much despite her modest life. June knew Emma wanted to attend her senior prom but couldn’t afford a dress. So June, with all her love, found a beautiful blue satin fabric and stayed up late sewing a gown for Emma. When Emma tried it on, she was overwhelmed with emotion—it was the most beautiful dress she’d ever seen.


But Emma wasn’t fooled. She stood strong and refused to give up the house that June had fought so hard to keep. Emma told Melissa firmly that the house was hers and that she had everything she needed with her grandmother. In anger, Melissa stormed out, calling Emma ungrateful and threatening her.
