The conversation reportedly centered on a startling incident that occurred just a day earlier at United Nations headquarters in Manhattan, per the New York Post.
On Tuesday, as President Trump and the First Lady arrived for his address to the UN General Assembly, the escalator in the entrance hall abruptly malfunctioned the moment they stepped onto it.
The incident quickly went viral and became known as ‘escalator-gate’ among political observers.
Trump didn’t hold back in his response to the malfunction, taking to social media to express his outrage.
He declared the incident was ‘absolutely sabotage,’ pointing to a Times report that UN staffers had been overheard joking about potentially switching off the escalator to make him walk to the hall.
“It’s amazing that Melania and I didn’t fall forward onto the sharp edges of these steel steps, face first,” Trump wrote online following the incident. “It was only that we were each holding the handrail tightly or, it would have been a disaster.”
The president went further, claiming that when he reached the podium, his teleprompter had gone ‘stone cold dark’ and his microphone wasn’t functioning properly.
“This wasn’t a coincidence; this was triple sabotage at the UN,” he declared, demanding an “immediate” investigation into the series of technical failures.

Enter forensic lip reader Jeremy Freeman, who has testified as an expert witness in U.K. court cases.
Freeman analyzed the Marine One footage and offered a strikingly different interpretation than the marital spat many had assumed.
According to Freeman’s reading of the exchange, Melania referenced how Trump ‘just continued’ when the escalator suddenly shut down while they were on it. The president’s response? A savage assessment of the situation.
“It was unbelievable. How can you do that?” Freeman believes Trump said, his frustration evident even through the helicopter windows.
Melania appeared to try to defuse her husband’s anger, reportedly telling him: “Donald, look at me.” She then added,:”Just say it and leave it,” seemingly encouraging him to move past the incident.
But Trump’s reaction suggested he wasn’t ready to let it go, responding with disbelief: “How can you do that…”
A second British lip reader, Nicola Hickling, provided an even more protective interpretation of Trump’s words.
According to Hickling, the president’s concern was entirely focused on his wife’s safety during the escalator malfunction.
“I can’t forgive them, they tried to hurt you,” Trump reportedly told Melania at one point during their helicopter conversation.
Trump’s reply was characteristically combative: “They’re done. We must challenge them,” according to Hickling’s interpretation.

Despite the apparently heated nature of their discussion, the couple’s body language after leaving the helicopter told a different story. Continue reading…
