Their coach plummeted 250ft down a precipitous slope, with the driver also perishing in the incident. The early morning accident on December 14 occurred in the north-eastern Colombian region of Antioquia.

The pupils’ school, Liceo Antioqueno in Bello near Medellin, published photographs of the students who perished alongside a heartfelt tribute. “Flying high, beyond the stars. Their time here was brief but their mark is indelible,” the school wrote.

A spokesperson added: “Today we share this mosaic in memory of our Class of 2025 graduates, whose lives were tragically cut short by the accident. We remember them with deep sorrow, gratitude, and respect.

“Their time at our institution left an indelible mark that will remain forever in our hearts. We stand with their families and loved ones in this time of immense grief.”
