Authorities dubbed the case one of a mistaken identity. But what was most important of all was that Mariana was alive. She was confused and couldn’t recall the exact moment she got swept away by the river. Mariana received medical care and spent some time at the hospital before she was able to return home to her family.
The body of the other woman was never identified.
