Daniel looked at her, guilt and surprise mingling in his expression.
“It wasn’t trash,” she clarified. “I acted on impulse after an argument with my business partner. I had intended to invest the money, but in anger, I threw it away.”
“I can’t believe it’s you. I thought you’d disappeared.”
More than a decade earlier, Anna and Daniel had been deeply in love, separated by misunderstandings and family pressure. Anna had soon discovered she was pregnant, unable to find him.
Looking at Marcos, Daniel asked hesitantly, “Is he…?”
Anna nodded. “Yes. Your son.”
The room fell silent. Daniel knelt before Marcos, voice trembling.
“I didn’t even know you existed.”
“Are you my dad?” Marcos asked. Daniel hugged him tightly, and Anna quietly held back tears.
In the following weeks, Daniel tried to reconnect. He took Marcos to his company, bought him books, and brought him to Real Madrid matches. With Anna, it was harder; she feared history repeating itself. But Daniel insisted he had changed.
“I’ve learned what really matters,” he said. “It’s not money.”
However, their happiness was tested when Laura, Daniel’s ex-wife, confronted them. She threatened Anna and attempted to sabotage Daniel’s career. Within days, Daniel’s fortune was nearly gone.
Anna found him in his empty office.
Exhausted but hopeful, Daniel asked, “Do you still trust me?”

“Yes. Because now we are a family.”
Together, they started over, opening a small secondhand clothing store—the same type of clothing Daniel had once discarded. Marcos helped after school. The store flourished through hard work and honesty. One day, a grateful former partner left a letter praising their integrity.
Daniel regained stability, but more importantly, he regained his family. A year later, walking with Marcos, he smiled.
“Do you remember that jacket?” Marcos asked.
Daniel nodded. “Yes. Thanks to her, I found you.”
Anna joined them, smiling warmly.
The autumn wind blew again, but this time it carried hope and the promise of a new life built on love and truth.
